Shahzeen Karim is a seasoned litigator renowned for her dedication to client advocacy and her assertive courtroom demeanor. With a wealth of experience in immigration and a passion for making an impact, Shahzeen brings a dynamic approach to the practice of law.
In Chicago, Shahzeen began her career in criminal law, excelling in litigation across misdemeanor and felony courts in Cook County.
Upon relocating to Texas, Shahzeen began to work in immigration law, initially focusing on family-based immigration, where she guided clients through VAWA benefits, U Visas, hardship waivers, adjustment of status, and naturalization. She then moved to business immigration, representing hundreds of employers seeking work authorization and employment visas for their employees through PERM Labor Certification applications, immigrant petitions, and applications for permanent residence within the U.S. and at U.S. Consulates abroad.
Based on her experience and tenacity, Shahzeen was offered a position with the Department of Homeland Security in San Francisco. However, she persisted in her steadfast dedication to advocating for individuals in critical need of aid, representing asylum seekers in immigration court proceedings for one of the largest removal defense firms in San Francisco. That is where she met her colleague, Ryan.
Though Shahzeen is now based in Dallas again, she continues to represent clients with her partner in California. She is licensed in Illinois and has been a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association since 2016.
Shahzeen earned her Juris Doctorate from DePaul University. She also graduated with honors from the University of Illinois-Chicago with a double major in Criminal Justice and Philosophy.
Shahzeen’s experience extends to obtaining successful results in complex cases before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Immigration Court, and U.S. Department of State offices worldwide.
